Here's an interesting challenge for anyone in the yoga business (or in general business, for that matter), posed by holistic coach Megan McDonough.
Consider what would happen to your business if you focused your efforts on one goal for 21 days consecutive days?
She makes the valid point that are cries of 'If only I had more time' often miss the point. Achieveing something is mostly about focus and commitment; essential traits of a regular meditation or yoga practice.
The challenge set is to come up with one measurable, tangible busienss goal. It could be about anything you'd like to achieve, to filling your yoga classes to capacity, from investigating the logistics of opening that new studio you always dreamed of.
Then, for the next three weeks, make a public pledge to take action towards that goal by posting your intention on McDonough's blog, and by keeping a regular diary.
The formal challenge began yesterday, Thursday 21 August, but of course you can start anytime. The demands of modern life, and running a business, can mean our focus is constantly divided - emails and 'to do' lists piling up ever-higher.
Yet there's much to be said for single-pointed focus, as Patanjali would testify! He would call it pure yoga.
The varying comments and commitments on McDonough's site - made by people trying to forge a living in this wonderful, but commercially tough industry - make for interesting reading.
Do report back on how you get on.

Yes, I have often felt that
Yes, I have often felt that the single-pointed focus we practice on the mat can also be honed in the practical and pragmatic actions of everyday life--like doing the tasks related to our yoga work. To me, that brings a new perspective and dimension to self-awareness. If it comes up in everyday life, it comes up on the mat (and vice-versus). Be well, and thanks for bringing the 28-day challenge to your readers.
Megan
I agree - and it's
I agree - and it's increasingly difficult to do, in this 24/7 world of mobile phones and the wonderful web.
